Free & open source

Several QualityMax tools work without a QualityMax account. You can adopt a standalone tool before connecting to the hosted platform. Free software does not make model-provider usage, cloud execution, or your own CI infrastructure free; requirements depend on the tool and mode you choose.

Tool Purpose License
free-qa-skills Reusable QA instructions for supported coding agents Apache-2.0
qmax-mcp Local browser inspection, scanning, and Playwright reproduction MIT
9lives Local test repair; prototype MIT
qualitymax-grader Test-suite quality findings and grades Apache-2.0
supply-chain-scanner Dependency and supply-chain checks Apache-2.0
qmax-code QA-focused terminal agent, standalone or connected FSL-1.1-ALv2; source-available

Follow each repository’s current installation instructions and license. The hosted platform is a separate service with its own account and plan requirements.

The skills catalogue includes accessibility, performance, test-quality, dependency, and other QA workflows for supported clients such as Claude Code, Codex, and OpenCode. Skills are instructions executed by your chosen agent and tools. Data handling and model costs follow those tools and their configuration; the absence of a QualityMax account is not a promise that no data leaves your machine.

The standalone qmax-mcp server exposes four tools: scan_url, inspect_page, generate_playwright_repro, and run_playwright_test. Its local workflow does not require a QualityMax account. See its README and demo for installation and example output.

The hosted MCP connection gives an authenticated client access to supported workflows in a QualityMax workspace. Follow that quickstart when you need hosted project, test, or execution operations. Do not assume the local four-tool package and the hosted connector have identical capabilities.

9lives runs in your repository and attempts repairs for supported test frameworks. It remains a prototype. Review the proposed diff and rerun the relevant tests before accepting a repair. Deterministic local repair and model-assisted tiers have different requirements: a configured model provider may receive the inputs needed for a repair and may charge for usage.

See the existing healing demo and the repository’s current CLI, MCP, and CI instructions. Hosted self-healing is a separate product workflow.

qmax-code supports standalone operation with your selected providers or coding agents and connected operation with QualityMax. The separate qmax local agent handles CLI and local execution workflows; qmax-code also supports independent operation.

qmax-code is source-available under FSL-1.1-ALv2, rather than OSI open source. Consult its license for permitted use and the Apache-2.0 future grant. Use its maintained installation instructions and latest release. Advanced terminal features marked experimental in that repository should not be assumed available by default.

For connected CLI setup, use the CLI quickstart.
